At that time, one has to meanijg behind one’s material benefits and social status. Hence, the hymn bears the title “Dvadasamanjarika- Stotra ” A hymn which is a bunch of twelve verse-blossoms. A rich man is frightened even by his own son. If one wants to gain Atma-gyaana, there is no other way, except renouncing desire, anger, greed and delusion. In the youth, one’s energies are dissipated in one’s beloved. The potent bonds of desire should be totally govimdam from the system of the individual. These are forbidden things, as they are the most attractive things of lust in the world. This work of Adi Shankara underscores the view that devotion Bhakti to God, Govinda, is a vastly important part of general spirituality, as emphasised by Bhakti Yoga and the Bhakti movement. The mind should always be kept pure, whatever may be the external form. By delving deeper into the philosophical implications of these verses, a sincere seeker will get the rare gems of knowledge in this simple composition of Jagatguru Sri Adi Sankaracharya.
